2 Ways To Fight Back Against Fall Colds In The Office

by Connie Hanson

Fall colds can really put a damper on progress at your workplace. Even if your employees show up, if they are not feeling well, they will not be able to give you their full effort. Keep things productive around your workplace this fall and fight back against all the germs that are spread around during the fall season.

#1 Sanitize Throughout The Day

In your office, make it easy for your employees to sanitize surfaces that they touch throughout the day.

For example, in the break room, provide a vinegar spray for all of the employees to use on the countertops after they prepare and eat food in the break room. Or, if you have a customer service or reception desk, provide the individuals who work there with vinegar spray or cleaning wipes so they can easily wipe down the counter throughout the day.

If you have lots of employees that work at desks or cubicles, provide them with their own container of cleaning wipes so they can easily wipe down their work area throughout the day.

Providing your employees with easy means of cleaning up their space is a great way to help cut down on the spread of germs in the workplace.

#2 Get Your Office Professional Cleaned

At the end of every day, after employees go home for the day, you should have your office professionally cleaned by a janitorial cleaning company. Each day, they should clean all commonly used areas in your business, such as the bathroom, break room and entryway. Cleaning and sanitizing these common areas every day will help reduce the spread of germs in your office. Additionally, it will make your office feel cleaner and more professional.

Ask them to prioritize wiping down all surfaces that people touch regularly in your office, such as doorknobs. These are the surfaces where cold germs are easily spread from one individual to the next.

Spread out the deep cleaning tasks over the week, such as cleaning the floors in the entire building or cleaning out the fridge. Make sure that your janitorial services know that cleaning all surface areas during the cold and flu season on a daily basis is your biggest priority.

Getting your staff to be proactive about cleaning and protecting against germs, paired with a professional cleaning service at the end of every day, is a great way to reduce the spread of germs in your office this fall. Fewer germs and healthier employees is a much better return on your investment.
